The 14th Dalai Lama in Hawaii CD

Produced by Edgy Lee for the Office of Tibet and Sakyadhita, a not-for-profit buddhist women's group.

This special recording is a compilation of His Holiness' conversations and symposiums during his visits to Hawaii (1994); intermixed with recordings of rare Tibetan folk music performed by some of Tibet's legendary artists all presently living in exile (France, India, Netherlands); Hawaiian chants by kumu hula, John Lake; and an introduction by the late Rev. Abraham Akaka.

This unusual CD is worth the listening time, recommended for play in your car, during heavy traffic or stressful moments. All proceeds go to Sakyadhita.

They sang around the camp fire, roped cattle and rode the range. They were native Hawaiian and many were part Spanish, learning the secrets of traditional vaquero. Enriched by the unique mix of cultures, the Paniolo O Hawaii (Cowboys of Hawaii) produced a language, dress and music that continue to intrigue generations.

Today, these rich traditions are kept alive in the rhythm and harmonies of their ukulele, guitars and melodies carried by the voices of the current Paniolo O Hawaii. This CD is a rare collection of authentic Hawaiian cowboy songs and hula.
